Lithuanian social workers honored in Marijampolė and Alytus
Social workers in Lithuania were honored during professional celebrations in Marijampolė and Alytus.
In Marijampolė, the fifth annual ‘Gerumo angelai’ (Angels of Goodness) awards ceremony was held to recognize professionals working with children, seniors, people with disabilities, and families in crisis. Five laureates, selected by local residents, received symbolic statues at the Marijampolė Drama Theatre. Honorees included Elena Senkuviene of the ‘Židinys’ center for her work with children, and Edita Kasparavičienė for her support of the elderly.
In Alytus, a celebration was held at the Alytus City Theatre to mark Lithuanian Social Workers' Day. Mayor Nerijus Cesiulis and Vice-Mayor Kristina Daugelevičienė addressed the professionals, emphasizing the importance of human warmth and understanding in their roles. Three social workers—Tatjana Kilmanienė, Elvyra Kasperavičienė, and Neringa Bartulevičienė—received 1,000 EUR prizes each for their contributions to medical rehabilitation, mental health, and social services.
