A group of 45 Lithuanian soldiers has departed for a six-month NATO peacekeeping mission in Kosovo. This deployment marks the third rotation of Lithuanian troops participating in the KFOR operation as part of a German contingent.
The unit, composed of personnel from the Lithuanian Armed Forces Volunteer Forces Vyčio County 5th Selection and other units, will work to ensure security and stability in the Balkan region. The mission is part of a larger NATO operation involving approximately 4,500 troops from 33 nations.
During the send-off ceremony held at the Rokiškis Manor, Deputy Minister of National Defense Gabriel Gorbačevski emphasized that the soldiers are fulfilling their duty to both Lithuania and its allies. Colonel Ramūnas Jurskis, commander of the Volunteer Forces, encouraged the troops to remain professional and focused on their mission throughout the deployment.
