Lithuanian State Tax Inspectorate prepares land tax declarations

The Lithuanian State Tax Inspectorate (VMI) has prepared land tax declarations for 2026, which are now available for review in the Electronic Declaration System (EDS). For the current year, the payment deadline is November 16.

In the Kretinga district, registered landowners are expected to pay approximately 933,000 euros in total, consisting of 845,800 euros from 13,000 residents and 87,000 euros from 204 companies. Taxpayers will be notified of prepared declarations via email, while those not using electronic services will receive them by traditional mail by November 3.

To assist residents living far from district centers, the VMI will deploy a mobile consultation bus to provide assistance. Taxpayers are advised to bring identification and e-banking credentials for personalized services.

A notable change this year involves the re-registration of surface water body shoreline protection strips by the Center of Registers. Because these strips were updated based on actual measured widths, the taxable area for certain plots may have changed since 2020, potentially resulting in higher tax calculations.
