Lithuanian students outperform OECD average in PISA assessment

The latest OECD Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) results show that Lithuanian 15-year-olds have outperformed the OECD average in all four assessed areas for the first time since Lithuania began participating in 2006.

In mathematics, Lithuania ranked higher than 64 countries. In reading, it outperformed 63 countries, and in scientific literacy, it ranked above 62 countries. The results for information problem-solving were also higher than 63 countries. Lithuania's performance in science is comparable to that of countries such as Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, and Sweden.

Vice-Minister of Education, Science and Sport Jonas Petkevičius noted that these results provide a foundation for consistent growth in student achievement. Within the Baltic region, Estonia recorded the highest scores, while Latvia recorded the lowest. Lithuania's mathematical literacy score of 470 points sits above the OECD average of 463 points.
