Lithuanian theatres announce new seasons and international productions

The Alytus City Theatre has launched its 37th season under the theme ‘Temperature’. The season opened with the play ‘Dairosi Dievas nuo kalno’, directed by Albertas Vidžiūnas. To mark the occasion, the theatre organized a 37-minute theatrical orientation game titled ‘Šilta-šalta’, involving local figures and exploring historical sites in Alytus connected to the theatre's heritage.

In Vilnius, the Old Theatre will host the Estonian theatre company ‘Südalinna’ this October. They will perform ‘Dievų aušra’ (Dawn of the Gods), a play by Marius Ivaškevičius directed by Elmo Nüganen. The production explores the life of filmmaker Mantas Kvedaravičius, who died in Mariupol, and examines themes of love and women's roles against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine. The play, which received recognition at the EURODRAM competition, will be performed with both Estonian and Russian casts.
