Lithuania's car market sees surge in Chinese imports and modest EV growth
In the Kaišiadorys district, the vehicle fleet remains older than the national average, with 14,768 passenger cars and an average age of 16.9 years. German brands dominate the local market, while electric vehicles are still a small share—164 EVs represent 1.11% of the district's registrations.
Nationally, the first half of 2026 recorded a sharp rise in Chinese-made cars, with 905 new registrations—a 392% increase over the same period last year. The most popular Chinese brands were MG (359 units), BYD (216) and Lynk & Co (150). BYD also added 50 new electric vehicles to the Lithuanian register, underscoring the growing presence of Chinese manufacturers in the Baltic market and their expanding role across Europe.
