Brazilian aviation influencer Lito Sousa, 59, disclosed that a routine PSA test led to the detection of an intermediate‑risk adenocarcinoma of the prostate. He chose to undergo a prostatectomy to remove the gland.

While preparing for treatment, Sousa developed progressive loss of coordination and strength in his left arm, symptoms that worsened during a trip to the United States. After returning to São Paulo, he was admitted to Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, where doctors identified inflammation on the right side of his brain. He spent nine days in the hospital receiving corticosteroid pulse therapy and immunoglobulin infusions. Sousa lost about 7 kg in 15 days and is now engaged in intensive physiotherapy, occupational therapy and rehabilitation to regain movement and balance.
