Litoral Norte approves 31 actions for ocean and biodiversity protection
The Coastal Management Sectoral Group of the Litoral Norte has approved 31 actions aimed at protecting the ocean, supporting fisheries, and enhancing biodiversity and water quality. These measures are part of the ‘Healthy and Sustainable Ocean’ thematic line within the region's first Action and Management Plan (PA&G). Key initiatives include the creation of an Integrated Maritime Protection, Inspection, and Monitoring System involving multiple levels of government, as well as measures to organize nautical tourism and reduce pollution through improved sanitation and waste management.
In a related development regarding marine conservation, representatives from Búzios participated in the Rio Ocean Week held at the Museum of Tomorrow in Rio de Janeiro. The event brought together specialists, NGOs, and public institutions to discuss challenges in ocean conservation and the management of marine conservation units. Discussions included the maintenance of Blue Flag certifications, which require strict standards for water quality, environmental management, and safety, as well as the administration of coastal environments.
