Litoral Norte: Unsuitable beaches identified in water quality report
In the Litoral Norte region, recent water quality monitoring has identified specific beaches as unsuitable for bathing. According to Bulletin No. 32/2026, the Buraquinho and Busca Vida areas have been categorized as 'imprópria' (unsuitable) due to contamination levels.
Authorities advise against entering the water in areas with suspicious discoloration or during rainy weather, as runoff from urban drainage systems can carry debris and contaminants. It is also recommended to avoid swimming near sewage outlets, river mouths, or drainage channels.
Other local beaches, including Ipitanga, Vilas do Atlântico, Jauá, Santa Maria, Arembepe, and Barra do Jacuípe, remain categorized as 'própria' (suitable) for bathing based on current sampling.
