Euglena Co., Ltd. targets 100 billion yen in sales via microalgae

Euglena Co., Ltd., a company specializing in microalgae (Euglena) for food, cosmetics, and biofuels, is aiming for annual sales of 100 billion yen. CEO Mitsuru Izumo discussed the company's mission to address global nutritional issues, a goal inspired by his experiences with malnutrition in Bangladesh.

Following a significant investment from Itochu Corporation in 2008, the company has expanded through open innovation and partnerships. Current operations include healthcare products and biofuel development, with significant projects underway in Malaysia. Izumo emphasized that achieving high sales volume is a key metric for measuring the social impact and value the company provides to the world.
