Little Havana residential building damaged by two-alarm fire
A two-alarm fire partially destroyed a three-story residential building in Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood on Wednesday afternoon. The blaze, located at 2110 West Flagler Street, spread through the wooden structure’s crawlspaces, walls, and attic.
Approximately 60 firefighters responded to the scene, utilizing drones and thermal imaging technology to locate hidden hot spots within the building's open spaces. Officials noted that the flames came dangerously close to gas lines, but crews managed to extinguish the fire in less than an hour, preventing a potential explosion.
The building contained 18 residential units, 16 of which were occupied at the time of the incident. While all residents and pets were accounted for and no injuries were reported, the structure was subsequently deemed unsafe for occupancy. More than twenty residents were forced to evacuate and were unable to return to their homes that night.
