Little Wings Cinema brings film screenings to children in Gaza
The Little Wings Cinema, an itinerant film project organized by the Masharawi Fund for Films and Filmmakers, is bringing movie screenings to displaced children in the Gaza Strip. In the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood of Gaza City, dozens of children gathered among tents and rubble to watch outdoor screenings of films such as ‘The Lion King’.
Project coordinator Asma Dababesh stated that the initiative aims to provide children with a temporary reprieve from the daily fear and insecurity caused by the ongoing conflict. The sessions, which typically last about three hours, include music and games alongside the films.
Despite facing challenges such as limited electricity, transportation difficulties, and security concerns, the Masharawi Fund intends to continue these regular sessions through 2026. The organization is also preparing for the second edition of the Gaza Children’s Film Festival, which will feature animation workshops, theater, and drawing to help children express emotions and rebuild community ties.
