Litton Das appointed Bangladesh ODI captain ahead of World Cup

The Bangladesh Cricket Board announced that wicket‑keeper‑batter Litton Das will take over as Bangladesh’s One Day International (ODI) captain, replacing all‑rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz. The change follows Bangladesh’s 2‑1 series loss to Zimbabwe and comes as the team begins preparations for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup.

Das, who already leads the side in Twenty‑20 Internationals, will now captain both white‑ball formats. The board clarified that Najmul Hossain Shanto will remain the Test captain, maintaining a two‑captain system across formats. Vice‑captain appointments were also confirmed, with Towhid Hridoy named white‑ball vice‑captain and Miraz retaining the red‑ball vice‑captaincy. Das has previously captained Bangladesh in seven ODIs, recording three wins and three defeats, and has played 104 ODIs with 2,869 runs, five centuries and 14 fifties.
