Liu Qi injured after long jump in Rasnov
Chinese ski jumper Liu Qi suffered a significant fall during the Summer Grand Prix in Rasnov after recording the longest jump of the competition at 98.5 meters. While the jump exceeded the hill size (HS97) by 1.5 meters, the landing resulted in a painful crash that required medical assistance to exit the venue.
Initial X-rays conducted in Brasov showed no bone fractures or other skeletal damage. However, medical staff and coaching staff, including Nejc Frank, expressed serious concerns regarding potential injuries to the ligaments of the right knee and other soft tissues.
Detailed diagnostic testing will be conducted upon Liu Qi's return to China. While the best-case scenario involves a simple ligament strain, officials have not ruled out more severe injuries that could necessitate long-term rehabilitation and potentially impact her upcoming winter season. The event was a mixed success for the Chinese team, as Dong Bing secured a third-place podium finish.
