Liu Qi sets record jump before suffering crash in Romania

Chinese ski jumper Liu Qi set a new record at the HS97 ski jump in Rașnov, Romania, with a jump of 98.5 meters. However, the historic attempt ended in a painful fall during the landing, leaving her unable to leave the landing area without medical assistance.

Liu was transported to a hospital in Brașov for examination. Initial X-rays revealed no bone fractures or other skeletal injuries. Despite this, medical staff and the Chinese coaching staff, including Nejc Frank, expressed concern regarding potential damage to the soft tissues and ligaments in her right knee. Further diagnostic tests are expected to be conducted upon her return to China.

The incident occurred during a successful outing for the Chinese team, as teammate Dong Bing secured a third-place podium finish at the event.
