Liupo resident killed by mob following suspected robbery

A 30-year-old man was killed by a mob in the Namunlo neighborhood of Liupo, Nampula, on Wednesday. The victim, a father of three, was reportedly carbonized by local residents following suspicions that he was attempting to commit a robbery at a nearby residence.

Ussene Raul, the secretary of the Namunlo neighborhood, confirmed the incident, noting that the victim was found in a residence near a secondary school. While some locals suggested the man was a known thief, the National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC) has issued an appeal to the community to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and to instead report suspects to the authorities.
