LIV Golf extends player commitment deadline to October 25
LIV Golf faces a critical deadline of October 25 to determine if its proposed “2.0” structure will proceed. The league has extended the commitment deadline for players following several high-profile departures, including Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka, and Patrick Reed.
During a US federal bankruptcy hearing, attorneys for LIV indicated that the decision regarding the league's future will be made by the end of the month. This timeline is crucial for the league and its primary investor, BC Partners, which is providing 45% of the financial backing while seeking 52.5% player equity.
The reorganization process is facing tension with the DP World Tour. DP World Tour CEO Guy Kinnings recently issued an ultimatum stating that players cannot participate in both LIV 2.0 and the European circuit next season. LIV attorneys have raised concerns in court, characterizing the move as an attempt to “interfere with our process” and citing anti-competitive practices. Judge Michael Kaplan has requested updates on the situation.
