LIV Golf faces instability as key players depart

LIV Golf is facing significant challenges regarding its proposed 'LIV 2.0' reboot following a mass exodus of high-profile players. Leading golfers, including Tyrrell Hatton, Sergio Garcia, and Ian Poulter, have opted out of the league’s new format. This follows the recent departure of Jon Rahm, who terminated his contract despite reportedly being owed over £7 million in unpaid fees.

The league's management and legal teams are currently involved in bankruptcy court proceedings in the United States. While the promotion has secured an investor in BC Partners, the firm had set a deadline of October 25 to secure commitments from enough players to ensure the tour's viability. Reports indicate that approximately 15 players have expressed interest in remaining, which falls short of the 30 to 40 players sought by BC Partners. However, the deadline has been extended to the end of this week to allow for a final deal to be sought.
