LIV Golf faces player departures as David Puig and Sergio Garcia exit
Several professional golfers are departing LIV Golf as the league prepares for a restructuring known as ‘LIV 2.0’. Spanish golfer David Puig announced he will not participate in the new format in 2027, opting instead for a full schedule on the DP World Tour.
Sergio Garcia has also been granted a release from his LIV contract following a court request during the league's insolvency proceedings. While Garcia intends to play on the DP World Tour, he noted that a return to the PGA Tour remains ‘definitely a possibility,’ though he remains under a suspension that lasts until at least August 2027.
These departures follow similar moves by Jon Rahm and Adrian Meronk. Additionally, reports suggest that Bryson DeChambeau’s team has contacted DP World Tour officials regarding potential tournament appearances in 2027, though he is not currently seeking full membership.
