LIV Golf secures $300M investment for 2027 relaunch

LIV Golf has entered a restructuring support agreement with BC Partners Credit, which includes a potential $300 million investment to facilitate the league’s emergence from Chapter 11 bankruptcy. This financing aims to support a revamped model, referred to as LIV 2.0, scheduled for a 2027 relaunch. Under this new structure, players would transition into equity owners of both the league and individual teams.

The investment follows the decision by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) to withdraw its long-term financial backing after the 2026 season. While the PIF has provided over $5 billion in funding since the league's inception, it will only provide approximately $50 million in debtor-in-possession financing to assist with the current transition.

The restructuring process involves significant outstanding debts, with several top players—including Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau, and Dustin Johnson—listed as unsecured creditors owed millions of dollars. The deadline for players to discuss and commit to the new terms has been extended to October 25. The proposed financing, which includes a $127.5 million first-lien loan, remains subject to approval by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New Jersey.
