LIV Golf likely to cancel Michigan team championship

Two‑time major champion Martin Kaymer said there is only a five‑percent chance that the LIV Golf season‑ending team championship in Michigan will take place. The league is searching for roughly $350 million in new investment after Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund announced it will end its financial support. CEO Scott O’Neil said the players remain in the dark and a decision on the event is expected by Tuesday. Kaymer noted that the final two individual tournaments are still slated for 2026, but the lack of funding threatens the team final and the overall future of the Saudi‑backed tour. The Asian Tour has also announced an alignment with the PGA and DP World Tours, further weakening LIV Golf’s feeder circuit.
