Live Action rejects legal threat over abortion terminology
The pro-life organization Live Action has refused to comply with a cease-and-desist letter sent by Amplify Legal, the litigation arm of the group Abortion in America. The legal demand, issued on behalf of 13 individuals, alleges that Live Action News published “false and defamatory” content regarding their abortion stories and specifically objects to the organization describing abortion as “killing” preborn children.
In a response issued through the Thomas More Society, Live Action stated it will not retract its statements or remove its archives. The organization maintains that describing abortion as “killing” is a protected opinion shared by millions of Americans.
Live Action President Lila Rose stated that the legal pressure is an attempt to control language to make abortion more socially acceptable. She asserted that “abortion is an act of killing” and that the organization will continue its reporting on the subject.
