Live entertainment workers protest in Catania over contract renewal
Live entertainment workers held a demonstration in front of the Teatro Stabile in Catania on October 27 as part of a unified national strike. The protest, organized by the Slc Cgil artists' department, aims to demand the renewal of the national collective labor agreement, which has not been updated since 2021.
The strike follows a breakdown in negotiations with Federvivo after two years of discussions. Labor unions claim that employer proposals are insufficient to address economic and regulatory needs, specifically failing to compensate for a 23% inflation rate experienced during the period without a contract renewal.
Key demands include the unification of contracts, a single classification system for personnel, and the simplification of pay scales to modernize the sector. The Catania demonstration is part of a broader national mobilization, with a major national protest scheduled to take place in Rome on November 9.
