Live Nation-owned Veeps triggers mass layoffs at major music publications
The ticket‑livestreaming service Veeps, founded by Good Charlotte members Joel and Benji Madden and majority‑owned by Live Nation, announced mass layoffs that affected nearly all staff at four long‑standing music outlets – BrooklynVegan, Alternative Press, Revolver and Goldmine. The cuts were reported in early August 2026 by Pitchfork and confirmed by industry observers on social media, with publicist Jacob Daneman posting a "RIP BrooklynVegan" message.
Live Nation acquired the parent company of these publications in 2021, and Veeps had taken control of the outlets around 2024‑2025. The sudden dismissals have left the future of the publications in doubt and sparked criticism of corporate consolidation in the music journalism sector.
