Live Nation settles lawsuit over 2022 Luke Bryan concert injury

Live Nation has settled a negligence lawsuit brought by Gary Stanhope, a concertgoer who sustained a traumatic brain injury during a 2022 Luke Bryan concert in Hartford, Connecticut. The incident occurred at the Xfinity Theatre, a venue owned by Live Nation.

Stanhope alleged that he was injured while intervening in an altercation between a man and a woman. He claimed that Live Nation failed to provide adequate security and crowd management, noting that the confrontation lasted several minutes without security intervention before he was struck and knocked onto the concrete. The lawsuit asserted that these injuries resulted in permanent medical problems and impacted his ability to work.

Live Nation disputed the allegations of negligence, stating that the company had taken extensive precautions, including hiring 116 security personnel and 16 uniformed Hartford Police Department officers, as well as screening patrons at entrances. While the case was headed toward a jury trial, the parties reached a settlement in July. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, and the settlement does not constitute an admission of liability by Live Nation.
