Live Nation Urban expands focus to the ‘Black audience business’
Live Nation Urban is shifting its strategic focus from hosting live events to operating within the ‘Black audience business.’ The company is expanding its reach through content development, intellectual property, and global market expansion, including the launch of Roots Picnic in London.
Founder Shawn Gee stated that the company is leveraging data and audience insights from its festivals and tours to engage with Black consumers more broadly. This move comes as Nielsen projects Black American buying power to reach $2.1 trillion by 2026. The company aims to provide brands with direct access to these audiences, noting that a majority of Black consumers prefer media and brand partnerships that reflect their culture.
