LiveModeTV launches free World Cup streaming in Portugal as part of international expansion
Brazilian digital sports platform LiveModeTV has started broadcasting the FIFA World Cup free of charge in Portugal. General manager João Mesquita says the Portuguese market is the first step of a long‑term international expansion, chosen for its cultural affinity and engaged youth audience. The service is financed through sponsorships and brand integrations, allowing it to operate without the advertising time‑restrictions that affect traditional broadcasters. Mesquita describes LiveModeTV as “a clear complement, not a substitute” to incumbents such as Sport TV and DAZN, positioning the platform as a “funnel mouth” that can draw new viewers toward paid sports offerings. Ongoing negotiations aim to secure additional rights and potentially broaden the catalogue beyond football after the tournament.
