Liver health: Scientific studies link specific beverages to reduced disease risk
Scientific studies have identified several beverages that may support liver health and mitigate the risks of liver disease.
Research from Cedars-Sinai in the United States, involving over 350,000 adults, indicates that daily consumption of sugar-free coffee is linked to a 32% lower risk of cirrhosis and a 47% lower risk of hepatocellular carcinoma. Additionally, a review from the Shiraz University of Medical Sciences in Iran suggests that regular green tea consumption helps stabilize enzymes such as aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT), which are indicators of liver inflammation.
Further findings from Sulaimani Polytechnic University in Iraq show that combining a Mediterranean diet with beetroot juice can reduce liver fat accumulation, lower LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, and increase HDL cholesterol.
