Liverpool and Dublin approve major housing redevelopment projects

Liverpool City Council's planning committee gave the green light to three development schemes. The projects include a 65‑bed nursing home and 84 apartments by the McGoff Group, a 36‑apartment social‑rent rebuild of the former Arundel Park care home, and a 48‑apartment block on Belmont Road. Planners highlighted the reuse of vacant brownfield sites and the provision of private amenity spaces and communal gardens.

In Dublin, the city council confirmed plans to decant the remaining 22 tenants of the Matt Talbot Court estate, described as living in "horrendous conditions," ahead of demolition scheduled for late 2027. The redevelopment will deliver 122 new homes – a mix of studios, one‑, two‑ and three‑bedrooms – with private outdoor spaces and a community area, aiming for completion by 2031.

Both authorities are pursuing large‑scale housing regeneration to replace outdated or under‑utilised sites with modern, affordable homes.
