Liverpool and Manchester United target Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott in summer transfer battle

Liverpool manager Andoni Irola is expected to make a major €160 million splash in the 2026 summer transfer window, with reports that the club could sign Bournemouth forwards Eli Kroupi and midfielder Alex Scott for roughly £80 million each. Former England striker Alan Shearer said he would not be surprised if the two players leave Bournemouth for Liverpool.

At the same time, Manchester United are preparing a competing £80 million bid for Alex Scott, according to reports citing United’s scouting chief Michael Carrick. United are also monitoring other midfield options such as Lens midfielder Mamadou Sangare, while steering clear of a £120 million race for Elliot Anderson. The two clubs' interest in the 22‑year‑old highlights a forthcoming transfer showdown for the Bournemouth talent.

Both clubs are looking to strengthen their midfield and attacking options ahead of the new season, with Liverpool under pressure to deliver immediate results under Irola and United eager to bolster their squad after recent signings.
