Liverpool appoints Andoni Iraola as manager amid £160m transfer targets

Liverpool confirmed the hiring of Andoni Iraola as head coach, signing a two‑year contract. Iraola, who led Bournemouth to a sixth‑place finish last season, replaces Arne Slot. The club hopes his high‑pressing style will restore title challenges.

His arrival triggered transfer speculation. Former Bournemouth midfielders Alex Scott (23) and Eli Junior Kroupi (19) have been linked with moves to Anfield, with estimates of about £80 million each, potentially totalling £160 million. Former England striker Alan Shearer said he expects the players to follow Iraola, adding “Widzę piłkarzy Bournemouth podążających za Andonim Iraolą do Liverpoolu”. Former Liverpool forward Michael Owen praised Iraola’s approach, saying the coach will “press high, win the ball back and play positively” and could make Liverpool “challenge for the title next season”.
