Liverpool appoints Andoni Iraola as manager in summer transfer push

Liverpool have dismissed Arne Slot after a disappointing season and appointed former Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola as head coach. Iraola is expected to restore a high‑pressing, direct style that matches the squad’s preferences, with sporting director Richard Hughes already familiar with his methods.

The club is also planning an active summer transfer window. Recent signings include Florian Wirtz (£116 m) and Alexander Isak (£125 m), while injuries have sidelined Hugo Ekitike and Isak previously. Liverpool have agreed a £60 million deal for 19‑year‑old French centre‑back Jeremy Jacquet, described by Dominic King as a “hungry” young player who chose Liverpool for his development. The transfers aim to reinforce the roster as Iraola implements his tactical blueprint.
