Liverpool approves Festival Gardens deal for 800 new homes
Liverpool City Council has approved legal agreements with developers Urban Splash and igloo to transform the 27-acre former International Garden Festival site into a residential neighborhood. The project aims to deliver approximately 800 homes, with an initial phase consisting of around 440 properties.
The development will feature more than 30 different house types to support a diverse community, including social rented accommodation, traditional family housing, retirement living, and self-build opportunities. The partnership includes a consortium of delivery partners such as Alpha Living, Regenda Homes, TOWN, and Starship.
Following a £53m decontamination effort previously conducted by Vinci, the developers will now focus on detailed design and community consultation. A formal planning application is expected to be submitted by the end of 2027.
