Liverpool City Region establishes AI Task Force

The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority has established a 15-member AI Task Force to guide the development and deployment of artificial intelligence within the region. The group aims to position the area as a leader in ‘AI for good’ by supporting improved public services and inclusive economic growth.

Nicola Hodson, the former chief executive of IBM UK & Ireland, has been appointed to chair the task force. The membership includes experts from industry, academia, and public services, such as Kate Warriner from the Alder Hey NHS Foundation Trust and representatives from the Government Digital Service. The task force will work alongside the region’s chief AI officer, Tiffany St James, and an AI Academic Community of Practice to foster a pioneering ecosystem for testing and scaling emerging technologies.

The initiative follows reports of social value generated by investments in the region’s Life Sciences Innovation Zone, including AI-powered health platforms designed to support individuals with conditions such as autism and ADHD.
