Liverpool faces squad limits and transfer competition

Liverpool FC faces squad registration challenges as the summer transfer window approaches its close on September 1. The club currently holds 31 senior players over the age of 21, exceeding the Premier League limit of 25 registered players. To facilitate new signings, such as interest in Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, Liverpool may need to offload up to nine players to comply with homegrown and total squad regulations.

Competition for young talent is intensifying, with Manchester United reportedly entering the race for PSG's Ibrahim Mbaye and Bradley Barcola. While Liverpool has been relatively quiet in the market, having only secured Victor Munoz and Ronald Araujo, Manchester United is also looking to bolster its squad. Ibrahim Mbaye, described as a “phenomenon” by former Senegal coach Pape Thiaw, is a primary target for several European clubs, including Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, with PSG reportedly seeking over 59 million euros for the player.
