Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola outlines transfer needs and playing philosophy

Andoni Iraola was appointed Liverpool head coach in June 2026 on a two‑year contract. In his first press conference he said his priority is to give supporters “a team they can be proud of” and to connect with the city. He praised midfielder Curtis Jones, calling him “great” and a “Scouse” player, and confirmed that the club will try to keep him despite interest from other clubs.

Iraola admitted Liverpool need more signings after only two arrivals – centre‑back Jeremy Jacquet and winger Victor Munoz – and said the club is working hard to add further players before pre‑season. He identified targets such as Yan Diomande, Bradley Barcola and other options to replace recent departures of Mohamed Salah, Andrew Robertson and Ibrahima Konaté.
