Liverpool FC rebuilds defense under new manager Íñigo Martínez

Liverpool FC is undergoing a tactical and structural overhaul following a disappointing previous season that saw the club finish fifth and secure only a Champions League spot. Following the dismissal of former manager Arne Slot, the club has appointed Spanish manager Íñigo Martínez to lead a new era focused on high-pressing and physical intensity.

To address defensive vulnerabilities in the center of the pitch, Liverpool has secured significant reinforcements. The club signed 21-year-old center-back Iñigo Martínez from Rennes for £55 million and completed a loan deal for Barcelona captain Pau Cubarsí. These additions were highlighted during a recent 2-0 pre-season victory against Komovo, where the new defensive lineup successfully secured a clean sheet.
