Liverpool FC signs Calum Scanlon to new contract and loans him to Cardiff City

Liverpool FC has announced that 21-year-old left-back Calum Scanlon has signed a new long-term contract with the club. Following the contract extension, the defender has been sent on loan to Cardiff City for the 2026/27 Championship season.

This marks Scanlon’s second spell with Cardiff City, having previously joined the club on loan during the second half of the previous season, where he made eight appearances and helped the team secure promotion. Scanlon originally joined Liverpool from Birmingham City in 2021. The loan move is intended to provide the defender with regular playing time as he continues his development.
