Liverpool begins US pre‑season tour under new coach Andoni Iraola

Liverpool Football Club has dispatched a 31‑man squad to the United States for a two‑week pre‑season tour ahead of the 2026‑27 campaign. Led by newly appointed head coach Andoni Iraola, the team will train in Chicago and play three friendlies: against Sunderland in Nashville on July 25, Wrexham at New York’s Yankee Stadium on July 29, and Leeds United at Chicago’s Soldier Field on August 2.

The squad is bolstered by the return of World Cup participants Ryan Gravenberch, Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, who are expected to join after the Sunderland match. Injured players Hugo Ekitike, Giovanni Leoni and Conor Bradley will travel for rehabilitation, while goalkeeper Armin Pecsi heads to Austria on loan for senior experience. Liverpool also announced the appointment of Alejandro Rosalen as the new first‑team goalkeeping coach, replacing Xavi Valero.

The tour is positioned as both a sporting preparation and a commercial opportunity to engage the club’s growing US fanbase and sponsors.
