Liverpool struggles to replicate scoring form in Premier League

Liverpool is experiencing a significant discrepancy in scoring output between domestic and international competitions. In seven Premier League matches, the team has scored nine goals, averaging 1.29 goals per game. This contrasts sharply with their performances in the Champions League and Carabao Cup, where they have scored 15 goals across four matches, averaging 3.75 goals per game.

Manager Andoni Iraola attributed the difference to the style of opposition rather than the competitions themselves. He noted that while the team has been offensively strong against sides like Villarreal and Atletico Madrid, they have faced different tactical setups in the Premier League. Additionally, Liverpool has conceded first in four of their seven league games, making it more difficult to break down opponents, particularly those utilizing low defensive blocks.

Despite the lower scoring rate in the league, the team has shown depth with 10 different goalscorers this season. Defensively, the team has improved in domestic play, recording three clean sheets and conceding only eight goals in seven Premier League matches.
