Fenerbahçe appoints Emre Belözoğlu as head coach

Fenerbahçe has officially appointed Emre Belözoğlu as its new head coach, marking his return to the club where he previously served as a player and sporting director. The announcement followed the departure of İsmail Kartal. During his official signing ceremony at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Sports Complex, Belözoğlu expressed his pride in returning to his “home” and acknowledged the high expectations of the club and its supporters.

The appointment comes on the heels of a significant Champions League victory for Fenerbahçe, where they defeated Liverpool 3-2 in Istanbul. While interim coach Dirk Kuyt led the team to this result, the club is now evaluating his future role within the new technical staff. Belözoğlu noted that he would be working with a team of 12 to 13 members and that the club would soon clarify the status of the existing coaching staff.

Separately, former Fenerbahçe manager İsmail Kartal has reportedly entered official negotiations with the Iranian club Tractor FC to take over as their head coach.
