Liverpool urged to chase Marcus Rashford after standout Barcelona loan

Former Liverpool goalkeeper David James has called on the club, now led by manager Andoni Iraola, to sign England forward Marcus Rashford. James highlighted Rashford’s impressive season-long loan at Barcelona, where he recorded 14 goals and 14 assists (or 14 goals and 10 assists according to another report) and helped the side retain the La Liga title.

Barcelona chose not to trigger a £26 million purchase option, and Manchester United have not confirmed Rashford’s future, leaving his summer uncertain. James noted that a direct transfer between the two English rivals would be the first since 1964 and urged Liverpool to overlook historic hostilities, citing Rashford’s football intelligence and versatility.

Several clubs, including Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham, have also been linked to the player, but James believes Liverpool’s new environment under Iraola could enable Rashford to thrive.
