Liverpool weighs re‑signing defender Jarell Quansah as rivals watch

Liverpool Football Club is reported to be the leading club interested in bringing former academy graduate Jarell Quansah back to Anfield. The 23‑year‑old centre‑back, who left Liverpool for Bayer Leverkusen, has a buy‑back clause that could cost around €70 million. Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are also monitoring the situation, but Liverpool appears to have the strongest intent.

Recent reports, however, indicate that Liverpool have decided not to activate the clause this summer and will not enter the market for a new defender for the next four to six weeks, preferring to focus on other areas of the squad. The club’s current defensive options include Jeremy Jacquet, Virgil van Dijk, Giovanni Leoni and Joe Gomez, none of which are presently considered fully available to manager Andoni Iraola.
