Livestock auctions see high-value bull sales
Recent livestock auctions in the cattle industry have seen significant activity, with notable results at the CQ Invitational Droughtmaster sale and the Willoughby Angus stud annual sale.
At the CQ Invitational Droughtmaster sale, the top-priced bull, Minlacowie Camelot, was sold to Josh Perry of Strathfield Droughtmasters for $45,000. The 22-month-old bull weighed 798 kilograms and was noted for its structural correctness and Brahman content. This year's sale average saw a 31.96% increase compared to the previous year.
At the Willoughby Angus stud sale held at the Central Victoria Livestock Exchange, all eight bulls offered were sold. Two bulls reached a top price of $6,500. One of the standout animals, Willoughby Kenny Rogers W509, was highlighted for its exceptional temperament and docility, described by livestock manager Nick Gray as being so quiet that one could ‘nearly ride him to work.’
