Livestock ministers in Guinea and Chad announce modern slaughterhouse projects

Livestock ministers in Guinea and Chad are announcing infrastructure developments to bolster local animal protein production and support the livestock sector.

In Guinea, Minister Alpha Bacar Barry visited slaughterhouses in Conakry and the Kagbelen national breeding center. Acknowledging that current conditions are not entirely satisfactory, Barry emphasized the need to accelerate initiatives under the Simandou 2040 Program. His goals include equipping the capital and other regions with modern slaughterhouses and butcheries to reduce dependence on meat imports from neighboring countries. He also announced upcoming projects to support youth in poultry and dairy farming.

In Chad, Minister of Livestock and Animal Production Pr Abderahim Awat Atteib visited Abéché in the Ouaddaï province. Following meetings with livestock representatives regarding challenges such as vaccination, animal feed, and water access, the minister announced the construction of a modern slaughterhouse in Abéché. The mission aims to better understand the realities faced by herders to guide future departmental interventions.
