Swine market prices drop following VEZG price cut
The swine market is experiencing significant downward pressure on prices following a decision by the German association VEZG to reduce recommended fattening pig prices from 1.60 to 1.45 euros per kilogram of carcass.
This reduction has triggered a sharp decline in the Polish market, where prices for fattening pigs have dropped by approximately 80 groszy per kilogram compared to the previous week. Current rates in Poland are reported to be around 5.90 PLN net per kilogram for Class E, which is roughly 45 groszy lower than German rates.
Industry experts note that these price drops represent the lowest levels seen since mid-July. The situation is particularly challenging for breeders, as current market values may not cover production costs. Similar price reductions have also been observed in the Netherlands.
