Livestock theft reported in Chihuahua and Yucatán

Authorities in Mexico are addressing separate incidents of livestock theft in the states of Chihuahua and Yucatán.

In Chihuahua, a man identified as Martín Yahir E. G. has been formally linked to a process for aggravated livestock theft. Prosecutors allege that on August 2, the suspect and at least two others stole a Charolais calf from a ranch in Ejido La Soledad. The suspect was detained on September 3 and will remain in preventive detention while a three-month investigation is conducted.

In Yucatán, rancher and former Rural Development Secretary Jorge Díaz Loeza reported the theft of two newborn Brahman Rojo calves from the ‘Yodzonot’ ranch in Tizimín. The two-day-old animals, one male and one female, were taken during the early morning hours. Díaz Loeza has offered a reward of 30,000 pesos for information leading to the recovery of the calves.
