Livia Brito denied amparo, remains under investigation for alleged false statements in Mexico

A federal judge denied actress Livia Brito's request for an amparo, meaning she will stay linked to a criminal process for the alleged falsity of statements. The case originates from a 2020 incident in Cancún in which photographer Ernesto Zepeda accused Brito and her then‑partner of assault and property damage, leading to both civil and criminal proceedings.

Zepeda has pursued five separate actions; only two have proceeded – a civil claim for moral damages and a criminal charge of false statements. The photographer has already received a settlement exceeding one million pesos. After the amparo was rejected, Brito said the case is far from resolved, noting a ten‑day window for a possible appeal and expressing confidence in the judicial system.
