Livingston officials suspend Daily Wire film production permit
The Livingston City Commission has temporarily suspended the filming permit for the Daily Wire production ‘Pawn Shop’ in Livingston, Montana. The decision follows a special meeting where residents and local officials raised concerns regarding the film’s impact on the community.
Local residents and officials cited several issues, including inadequate notification regarding hazardous stunts and the negative impact on local businesses. Specifically, the Livingston Food Resource Center reported that the production created barriers for clients seeking assistance, noting a 17% drop in attendance which reached an eight-week low.
City Commission member Cindy Daniels stated that the production appeared to be taking advantage of the situation without benefiting the local community, specifically mentioning veterans and the food resource center. The commission has moved to suspend the permit for Bonfire Pawn Shop LLC while seeking legal counsel to determine whether the permit should be amended, suspended, or revoked. The matter is expected to return to the commission after October 5th.
The film reportedly includes a scene depicting the fatal shooting of ICE activist Renée Good in Minnesota earlier this year, a detail that has contributed to local tensions.
