Livno and Neum hold commemorations for Veterans Day
Commemorations were held in Livno and Neum to mark Veterans Day and honor those who fell during the Homeland War.
In Livno, events marked the 35th anniversary of the founding of the Livno brigade. The program included meetings between veterans' associations and Mayor Darko Čondrić, a mass at the Church of All Saints, and the laying of wreaths at a local memorial. Discussions focused on the current needs of veterans and their families, including disability benefits and social support provided by the city.
In Neum, ceremonies honored fallen, missing, and deceased Croatian veterans. Local officials noted that during the war, over 900 people contributed to the defense of Neum, with 37 fatalities. The program featured a mass at the Church of Our Lady of Health, a procession, and a minute of silence at a memorial site. Officials emphasized the importance of preserving historical truths as the number of living witnesses to the conflict decreases.
